How to Install Eventide Root CA on MacOS

Safari or Chrome 

Note: If you are a Firefox User, please scroll past the Safari/Chrome guide.

This procedure installs the CA certificate in the Mac OS keychain where it is used by the operating system, Safari, and Chrome. 

1. Download the certificate to the Desktop or another folder on the computer: http://cdp.eventide.local/ca/Eventide-Root-CA.crt
2. Double click the cert file and grant access to the Keychain Access app by entering your administrator password

   

3. You might need to double click the cert after granting keychain access the required access. Select Keychain: System, then click Add.
4. Enter the administrator's user name and password and click Modify Keychain when prompted.
5. After the import, select the System keychain on the left, then double-click the new certificate.
6. In the Certificate Detail screen, open the Trust section.
7. Change the setting When using this certificate to Always Trust, then click the red dot to close the window.
8. Confirm the change by entering the administrator's user name and password and click Update Settings.
9. Check that the certificate is now shown as This certificate is marked as trusted for all users, then close the Keychain Access screen.

10. Close all running browsers and restart the system.
     

    Firefox Guide:

    Firefox users need extra steps because Firefox does not use the operating system's trust store, but implements its own trust store for certificates. Follow these steps to install the certificate into the Trusted CA list of Firefox:

    1. Open Firefox.
    2. Open the Menu and select Settings.
    3. Click Privacy & Security. Scroll down and click View Certificates.
    4. This opens the Firefox Certificate Manager. Click the Authorities tab and then click Import then Select the certificate file from the file system(Usually in your downloads folder or desktop unless moved) and click Open.
    5. A new window will pop up. Here, select Trust this CA to identify websites and click OK.
    6. To verify the successful import, find the certificate EVENTIDE-ROOT-CA in the list. Then click OK and close Firefox Options.
